MTV Music Evolution 2015

MTV, a unit of Viacom Inc. (NASDAQ: VIAB, VIA), today announced the addition of the final international hip hop act, Filipino-American rapper, record producer and dancer, Apl.de.ap who completes the performers’ line-up at the MTV Music Evolution 2015, set to take place at the historic Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park in Manila on Sunday, 17 May 2015. One of Philippines’ pride, Apl.de.ap will be bringing some of his own sounds, since he went solo in 2012, while remaining a key member of The Black Eyed Peas. The previously announced acts include Naughty by Nature, YG, DJ Mustard, Gloc-9 and Abra. 


Recorded live for global telecast under the MTV World Stage global series to an international audience of more than three-quarters of a billion households in over 160 countries, fans can win free entry to this music event through a host of activities, including via the MTV Music Evolution website, MTV’s social media activations (e.g. Hip Hop Selfie), at the MTV Music Evolution roadshow on 8-9 May 2015 at Robinsons Place Manila, Ermita and through activities organized by MTV’s partners. Hosted by MTV Asia VJs Alan Wong and Hanli Hoefer, the show premieres on-air on Saturday, 30 May at 7.00pm in the Philippines. 

MTV Music Evolution 2015 will open its doors at 3pm, with the event commencing at 7pm. MTV Music Evolution 2015 is presented by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) of the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT), co-presented by Nestle® Drumstick® and major sponsor NestlĂ©® Kit Kat®, supported by the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC), with media partners Circuit magazine, Gist.PH, Inquirer.net, 99.5 Play FM, Wave 89.1, Oomph!, WhenInManila.com, broadcast partners Cignal and Dolby, and ride partner GrabTaxi. 
MTV Music Evolution is a live music event that brings to life the evolution of a music genre and enables young people to experience and discover how music styles and sounds have evolved over the years. MTV Music Evolution marks its inauguration 2015 edition with a feature on hip hop, showcasing iconic and contemporary hip hop acts from both international and local music scenes on a single stage, while featuring the best of Philippine music and culture to international youth audiences. 
APL.DE.AP 
Apl.de.ap is a Filipino-born American rapper, record producer, dancer and philanthropist, best known as a member of the Grammy Award-winning hip hop/ pop group, The Black Eyed Peas. One of Philippines’ home-grown artists who made it onto the international music scene, Apl.de.ap grew up in the barrios of Angeles City, Pampanga Province in the Philippines. 
Through the support of a sponsor, Apl.de.ap went to live in L.A. where he met will.i.am. Despite a language barrier, both of them bonded immediately through a shared love of dance. Their friendship spanned high school years and more. The duo started performing together in L.A. from 1988 and together formed The Black Eyed Peas in 1995. 
The group rose to fame in 2003 through their third album “Elephunk” with hits “Where Is The Love?”, which topped the charts in over 10 countries globally, and “Shut Up”. With 6 of The Black Eyed Peas albums under their belt, the group has been ranked as one of the world’s best-selling groups of all time, with more than 76 million records sold so far. The group also gained six Grammy awards, including “Best Rap Performance”, Best Pop Vocal Album” and two MTV EMAs for “Best Pop Act” (2004, 2005) and numerous other accolades. “I Gotta Feeling” topped the Billboard single chart for an unprecedented 26 consecutive weeks in 2010 and was nominated for “Record of the Year” at the Grammys. The Black Eyed Peas were 12th on Billboard’s Decade-End Chart Artist of the Decade and 7th in the Hot 100 Artists of the Decade in 2010. 
Today, Apl.de.ap remains a part of The Black Eyed Peas, but has also found success on his own, having founded his own label, BMBX Entertainment, which aims to sign Southeast Asian artists and give them exposure on the international stage. He also continues to tour the world DJ-ing events. Most recently, he served as one of the four coaches of the first and second seasons of The Voice of The Philippines. He is also a devoted philanthropist through his Apl.de.ap Foundation and an ambassador of many others such as Pinoy Relief and The Happy Hearts Gala in 2014. 
At home, Apl.de.ap has been honoured as the biggest hit-makers in the Philippines at the MYX Music Awards in 2008, Global Achievement by a Filipino Artist at the GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards in 2012 and honoured with The Spirit Award from the Happy Hearts Foundation for his philanthropy work.

HOW TO WIN MTV MUSIC EVOLUTION SHOW ENTRY WRISTBANDS 
How to Win #1: MTV Music Evolution entry wristbands are not for sale and may be won by fans through a word search game contest* at www.mtvmusicevo.com that opens 26 March and ends on 30 April. For 60 seconds, players need to seek out words from the hip hop and Philippines related word glossary. Each word found earns the player a lucky spin on the MTV Turntable to win entry wristbands and other surprises. Players can share their game results on Facebook.

*The game contest is open only to fans from the following countries Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, India, Australia and New Zealand.

How to Win #2: Hip Hop Selfie

How to Win #3: MTV Music Evolution Roadshow 
An MTV Music Evolution Roadshow will take place on 8 – 9 May 2015, 1pm – 6pm at Robinsons Place Manila, Ermita. This will give fans a chance to meet with MTV VJs, and give music fans the last chance to score mosh pit access at the MTV Music Evolution. A lucky few will even bag the coveted Meet & Greet passes to get up close to the stars! Filipinos can also catch performances by local beatboxers and rap artists, including local hip hop duo, Qyork at the Roadshow.

GIANT 3D MTV LOGO GRAFFITI ART INSTALLATIONS POP UP ACROSS MANILA 
In the run up to the event, fans can find four 10-feet tall MTV logo graffiti art installations, which are popping up across different city hotspots from this week, such as The Collective, Glorietta 4 and Quezon City Circle before its final display together at the MTV Music Evolution on 17 May. Fans who find these artworks created by local graffiti artists, Chichi Monster, Egg Fiasco and Nick Automatic, can also upload a selfie to Instagram with #mtvmusicevo for a chance to win free entry to the show. The more they find and upload, the better the chance they have of winning.

MTV MUSIC EVOLUTION PROGRAMMING SPECIAL: MTV HIP HOP RAPRESENTZ 
As part of the hip hop music celebration and lead-up to the event, MTV will be bringing viewers themed programming under the “MTV Hip Hop RAPresentz,” line-up featuring 30-minute artist specials consisting of music videos and live performances of the hottest regional and international hip-hop acts today, as well as the icons of the genre who helped to shape and transform hip-hop music over the years. 

30-minute specials featuring a mix of local and international hip hop music videos will be aired on MTV in the Philippines on the following days and times from Thursday, 2 April onwards: 
· Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9.30am, 6pm, and 1am 
· Saturdays at 8pm 
· Sundays at 8.30pm
