UNILEVER'S PUREIT "SAFE KA BA?" LAUNCH

I had a wake up call and a reality check when I attended the Unilever Pure It! event. We all know that water is very essential to our lives. We always make sure that the water we drink, our family drinks, our loved ones drink is pure, very clean, free of any bacteria. And to be sure, in our home, we buy purified water at water refilling station because we think it is "clean enough" for the family to drink. But, no! I was alarmed when I found out that you'll never ever be too sure that it is safe enough. Yikes!

Unclean, unsafe water is a no-no! We all know it can cause a lot of sicknesses and worse, death. The safety of our water we drink should always be our top priority. I never had a second thought if our water is clean since we buy them (and assumed that it is clean already without thorough check of the place where we order our water and the hygienic sanitation practices of the people who works there.). I thought as long as it is not tap water (came directly from the faucet), water from refilling station is clean, and had undergone proper cleaning procedure before making deliveries. I never think any of it.. until now. Thanks to Unilever Pureit for opening my eyes.

During the event, Unilever Philippines, through its state-of-the-art water purifier - Pureit, has launched an awareness campaign to empower household consumers to question the safety of their drinking water, and in so doing, protect the health of their families.

At the launch of  Pureit “Sure Ka Ba?” campaign, we watched a video of how a typical water refilling station processed the order of a customer, revealing how refilled water can become contaminated especially during handling, storage and delivery of containers. We were all appalled by what we saw!

Can we say eeewwww??!! Yes! That was my reaction too when I watched that! Can you imagine the heat, the smoke belching vehicles, the trash in the sidewalk, the flood our "supposed-to-be-clean water" travels before it reaches our home? Tsk tsk! Imagine what we thought was clean enough.. we're actually putting risk to our health!

“Through the video, we wanted to show households, especially the moms, how refilled water can easily be contaminated due to improper handling and transport of containers and other human factors. This, in turn, can pose health risks for the family, especially the children,” said Brian Duruin, Pureit brand manager.

Pure It Brand Manager Brian Duruin talks about the water purification product and how it gives every Filipino family access to safe drinking water.

The United Nations Children’s Fund lists diarrhea, cholera and typhoid fever as some of the deadly diseases that can be triggered by drinking contaminated water.

To help address this concern, Unilever has introduced Pureit Excella, an in-home, non-electric water purifier that converts tap water into clean and safe drinking water. Pureit has an advanced five-step purification process that eliminates 99.9999% of bacteria, viruses and parasites to meet the stringent safety standards of the US Environmental Protection Agency.

Check out why Unilever Pureit water purifier is a must have in every household:

Two product demonstrations were held to showcase the efficacy of Pureit in eliminating microscopic disease-causing germs and bacteria. The demonstrations were conducted by the Unilever Research and Development team and a microbiologist from SGS, the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.

Unilever Philippines vice president for Home Care and Foods Benjie Yap talked about how Pureit’s “Sure Ka Ba?” campaign and other efforts to bring safe drinking water closer to Filipino families are part of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan which allows Unilever to provide health and wellness, environment, nutrition and livelihood programs on a global scale.

Unilever Philippines VP for Homecare and Foods Benjie Yap explains the company’s decision to develop Pure It. The new water purifier product is part of the company’s Unilever Sustainable Living Program (USLP) which aims to improve the health and well-being of 1 billion people around the world by the year 2020.

Celebrity mom Dimples Romana is launched as the Pure It brand ambassador. She is joined by Unilever Philippines VP for Homecare and Food Benjie Yap and Pure It Brand Manager Brian Duruin.

Thank you for this advocacy, Unilever! Thank you for looking after our safety and for ensuring our health will not be put to risk by providing tools to make our water clean!

Happy moms, me and Kath upon learning that there's still hope in having clean water in our home.
