SARAP NG #LUTONGNANAY WITH KNORR

Since I became a Mom, I preferred home-cooked meals. It gives me an assurance that my family is eating healthy, thoroughly prepared, well-thought food. In our fast-paced lifestyle, ordering food outside or eating instant food has been our resort and we don't actually think of the harm it can bring to our bodies in the long run. Unfortunately, we don't realize we will reap great consequences in the future. As a Mom to a 9-year old and another baby girl on the way, I want my daughters to grow up eating the right food where the go, glow, grow are included in their meals, and I know only home-cooked meals can give them proper nourishment.

Despite the heavy rains and traffic that day, now on it's 3rd year, I'm so glad I attended the latest campaign of Knorr #LutongNanay held at The Cookery Place, BGC where I learned that my desire of home-cooked meals is also Knorr's advocacy to bring back home-cooked meals to every Filipino home.

So what exactly is Knorr’s #LutongNanay campaign?

According to Knorr’s Brand Manager for Bouillon and Seasonings, Dhiren Karnani, “Our goal is to bring back the value behind home cooked meals especially since people choose to eat outside or even alone in this fast-paced world. Knorr aims to help more moms bring the family together through the best flavors in their cooking.” The Lutong Nanay campaign also helps busy and working moms find time to cook for her family by introducing simple, smart and great tasting dishes that the family will love through recipe inspiration. “Cooking is a force for good. When a mother cooks, it is often seen as a way for her to ensure her family’s well being – and through Knorr, moms can serve nutritious meals without sacrificing great flavor” Karnani continues.

Louise Fandino-Santos, a Knorr Mom, hosted the event.

If there's one dish that I can eat every meal everyday, I will always say Sinigang! Haha! I've been a fan of Sinigang for as long as I remember. And what's not to love in Sinigang? Sabaw palang ulam na! :D Iba ang kilig asim ng Sinigang especially now that there's a lot of variations and ways to cook it. It's everyone's favorite and even kids love it because of their sabaw, but it also has vegetables, so it's a win-win, right?

Chef Kai – a talented chef and a mother to two – did a cooking demonstration on various Sinigang recipes, after which, the participants cooked and plated different Sinigang dishes.

Knorr invited around 20 mommies to participate in this campaign and we were divided into 4 groups where we were tasked to prepare different kinds of Sinigang. Did you know that you can experiment with your Sinigang? I've tasted Knorr Sinigang sa Pakwan before but never tried Knorr Surf and Turf Sinigang, Knorr Sinigang na Liempo sa Sampaloc and Knorr Sizzling Sinigang. It's amazing what you can do with your Sinigang for as long as you have the main ingredient, and it's Knorr Sinigang Mix, of course!

My group was assigned to make Knorr Surf and Turf Sinigang. I was a bit curious when I saw that there's shrimp, maya-maya and pork sukiyaki on our table. Didn't know that you can mix them all together to make a delicious Sinigang dish.

Here are the ingredients for Knorr Surf and Turf Sinigang:
1 L rice washing
2 pcs onions, quartered
2 pcs tomatoes, quartered
2 pcs gabi, quartered
1 pc green chili (sili pansigang)
1⁄4 kg shrimp, trimmed
1⁄4 kg Maya-maya, cut into serving pcs.
1 pack Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Original 20g
1⁄4 pc radish, sliced
4 pcs okra
1 cup long beans or sitaw, sliced
1⁄4 kg pork sukiyaki, sautéed
1 cup kangkong, sliced

Procedure:
1. Bring to boil rice washing in a pot with onions, tomatoes, gabi, and green chili until gabi is tender.
2. Add shrimp, maya-maya, and Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Original. Simmer until cooked.
3. Add radish, okra, and long beans. Simmer for a minute then add pork sukiyaki and kangkong.
4. Cover for a minute then serve.

And don't forget to add Knorr Sinigang sa Sampaloc Mix Original! Tip: you can also add pork broth cube to add flavor.

And voila! Prepare to drool!!!! Happy tummy with our Knorr Surf and Turf Sinigang! Success!!

Stay tuned for another Knorr recipe here on the blog. I'll make a separate post for Knorr Sinigang sa Pakwan, Knorr Sinigang na Liempo sa Sampaloc and Knorr Sizzling Sinigang recipe.

Thank you Knorr for reminding us Mommies how important it is to prepare home-cooked meals for our families and thank you for teaching us ways in making different kinds of Sinigang. Can't wait to cook for my family! :)
