Baguio’s cool mountain air, pine-lined fairways, and unmistakable old-world clubhouse charm set the stage for the Landco Lifestyle Ventures (LLV) Invitational Golf Tournament at John Hay Golf, an energizing day that celebrated precision on the greens and partnerships off them.
“At Landco Pacific and our hospitality arm LLV, we believe that
hospitality and sports tourism go hand in hand in creating meaningful
experiences,” said Erickson Y. Manzano, President and CEO of Landco Pacific
Corporation and LLV. “Through events like the LLV Invitational, we are not only
showcasing world-class golf but also strengthening Baguio’s position as a
premier destination where recreation, culture, and community converge.”
Partnerships that Power the Momentum
The LLV Invitational highlighted how private partnerships unlock
top-tier guest experiences. With Boysen as co-presenter and BPI as major
sponsor, alongside event partners Maynilad, Metro Pacific Water, MPTC, and
Smart Infinity; raffle sponsors mWell, MPIC, BBZ; and media partner Cignal TV,
Inc., the tournament became an exemplar of responsible, memorable sports
tourism in Baguio. LLV continues to build on this model: bringing the right
partners together, elevating play, and letting Baguio’s timeless setting do the
rest.
John Hay Golf is a bucket-list course for a reason: an 18-hole, par-69
layout set among rolling terrain and towering pines, redesigned by Jack
Nicklaus Design for playability and all-weather conditioning. Fairways were
widened and sand-capped, bunkers reshaped, and Bentgrass greens deliver the
satisfying roll golfers chase. The northern Luzon favorite combines challenging
terrain with breathtaking vistas, making every round memorable and drawing a
new generation of enthusiasts to the city’s iconic fairways.
John Hay Hotels Managed by LLV: Purposeful Hospitality Meets Play
The tournament also showcased the revitalized John Hay Hotels featuring
the Garden Wing (formerly The Manor) and Forest Wing (formerly The Forest
Lodge), now under LLV stewardship. The hotels provide a balanced play-and-stay
experience, offering guests a full spectrum of leisure and wellness options.
Visitors can enjoy luxurious accommodations with stunning mountain and
golf course views, curated dining experiences ranging from international
cuisine to locally inspired Cordilleran dishes, and wellness and spa facilities
including massages, fitness studios, and yoga areas.
Cultural and adventure activities, such as guided hikes, pine trail
walks, and immersive local workshops, further enrich the guest experience,
while versatile event and meeting spaces cater to corporate retreats and
private celebrations. Recreational options abound, including tennis, cycling,
and, of course, the world-class John Hay Golf course.
Guests can seamlessly combine golf rounds or cycling and other sports events
with cultural explorations, open-fire Mountain Man dinners complete with an
immersive Cordilleran culinary ritual, and sustainable cacao workshops led by
Angeleah Montilde of Kokomo, creating a weekend stay where relaxation,
recreation, and local immersion coexist in perfect harmony.
Sports Tourism: Done the Baguio Way
Under LLV’s leadership, John Hay positions golf as a gateway to Baguio’s
broader sports-tourism appeal: sunrise altitude-training runs, pine-trail
hikes, cool-weather cycling, and event-centric long weekends that invite
travelers to linger.
Earlier this year, Camp John Hay proudly served as the finish line for
the revived Tour of Luzon, an annual professional road cycling race dubbed the
“Great Revival.” Cyclists covered over 172 kilometers from Lingayen to Baguio
City, culminating at Scout Hill in Camp John Hay, highlighting the Cordilleras
as both a scenic and challenging sports destination. The event drew 119 cyclists
from 17 teams, including international participants from Taiwan, Hong Kong,
Malaysia, and South Korea, and underscored Baguio’s growing reputation as a
crown jewel of Philippine sports tourism.
Why It Matters
Great courses make great rounds. Great stewardship makes great
destinations. By blending world-class golf with culture-rich hospitality, LLV
is shaping a Baguio leisure and sports experience where players become patrons
of local heritage, partners become catalysts for inclusive growth, and tournaments
like the LLV Invitational turn a single day on the fairway into a season of
return trips.
Guests are invited to experience the next tee at John Hay Golf and a
balanced, meaningful stay at John Hay Hotels, where the pines whisper, the
greens run true, and partnerships keep winning.
