As a mompreneur, you learn to do everything, from managing your home to growing your business, often all at once. You rely on diskarte, creativity, and a lot of heart to keep things going.
Now, many Filipino moms are discovering a new way to make things easier and more efficient with the help of AI.
Filipino mompreneurs are transforming homegrown businesses by embracing artificial intelligence (AI). They streamline operations, spark creativity, and make smarter decisions. Once complex, AI is now accessible, helping women entrepreneurs automate routine tasks and focus on growing purposeful, sustainable businesses.
More than just a tool, AI is quickly becoming
an essential support system—helping mompreneurs manage finances, spot trends,
and generate new ideas with greater speed and confidence.
This shift comes to life through the real stories of Filipina entrepreneurs at the Gemini Academy, a collaboration among Google Philippines, PLDT Home, and Madiskarte Moms PH. Here, women are learning how to harness AI to elevate their businesses and expand their impact.
By generating complex Google Sheets formulas
through simple AI prompts, she built a custom pricing calculator and business
tracker from scratch. This allowed her to automate profit calculations, giving
her a clear, real-time view of her business health while she focuses on design.
The formulas and worksheets that Gemini was
able to generate for her were so successful and effective, that she even shares
them with the members of her community for free. In her and her business’s
success, she is also willing to bring up her fellow mompreneurs.
“Most of the questions I get from my fellow
handmade goods makers is: how do I price my items? So I asked Gemini for help
on how to do it,” Alvarez said. “If I am going to help my fellow entrepreneurs
with this, I want to go the full length of helping out.”
Similarly, Jenielyn Sicabalo-Nieva of MP Nieva’s Flower Company uses Gemini as a strategic brainstorming partner, using AI to conduct deep research into global bouquet trends and innovative "add-on" gift ideas. Her husband serves as the main florist, while she handles the management and business side of the company.
Sicabalo-Nieva had attended the first-ever
Gemini Academy session held by Google, PLDT Home, and Madiskarte Moms last
year, not knowing anything about how to use AI. Her biggest win using AI in her
business, she recounts, is when her company was asked to provide flowers for a
particular local movie premiere.
Not knowing what the movie’s stars liked, she
asked Gemini to do some research on what each cast member’s favorite colors and
flowers were. Gemini provided the results, and Sicabalo-Nieva’s team went to work
on creating the bouquets based on the preferences that were found—and upon
seeing the flowers, the actors were delighted that the team thoughtfully
captured their personalities.
“I’m really not creative—my team are the
creative ones. But Gemini feels like an extra creative hand that helps me
think,” Sicabalo-Nieva said. “You can get concepts and ideas from it, and you
can improve from there.”
AI skills are also helping mompreneurs of all
ages, especially those who may not have grown up with the maturation of
technology.
Mercedita Madrona—owner of Kusinanay’s Food Products and a Gawad Madiskarte finalist in this year’s awards—may technically be a senior citizen at 64 years old, but her joy at discovering that AI can help her close deals definitely feels childlike.
“Everyone knows how social media is important
in business, especially AI—I already use it in my messenger apps. I’ve made a
huge property sale thanks to AI, and even though I’m not a techie, I try to
learn these things and it really helps, because it really is a huge help,”
Madrona said.
“Even though you don’t know something, there’s
always a way to learn,” she added.
Helping mompreneurs with Google and PLDT
Home’s Gemini Academy
These mompreneurs shared their experiences in
this year’s Gemini Academy event, held in partnership with PLDT Home and
Madiskarte Moms PH (MMPH).
These practical successes were the highlight
of the second-ever annual event. Building on the momentum of last year’s
inaugural session, Google and MMPH redefined the conversation this year from
"what AI is" to "how AI can supercharge your business."
"AI is a tool that enhances—never
replaces—maternal intuition and the 'madiskarte' spirit," says Prep
Palacios, Country Manager for Google Philippines. "We are celebrating a
synergy where technology handles the heavy lifting, while the mompreneur
remains the visionary heart and creative soul of her business."
The event served as a powerful conclusion to
Women’s Month, bringing together the MMPH community for hands-on exercises.
To further encourage AI adoption, Google
Philippines and PLDT Home announced the Gemini Special Award for the 2027 Gawad
Madiskarte, recognizing entrepreneurs who effectively use AI to scale their
businesses.
“At PLDT Home, we are committed to enabling
families and entrepreneurs through strong, reliable fiber connectivity,” said
Cheryl Maxine Loyola, PLDT Home AVP and Head of Public Relations and Brand
Advocacies. “Through Gemini Academy, we are equipping mompreneurs with the
digital tools they need to grow, compete, and succeed.”
She added, “Seeing these women evolve from
being tech-curious to truly tech-empowered shows that with the right tools and
support, there are no limits to what home-based businesses can achieve.”
Making AI Work for Everyday Entrepreneurs
Behind these success stories is a growing
ecosystem of AI tools designed to simplify complex work and make innovation
more accessible.
NotebookLM, for instance, functions as a
personalized research assistant—helping people quickly process information and
turn business notes into actionable insights.
Meanwhile, Gemini’s built-in creative
tools—such as Lyria, Nano Banana, and Canvas—enable people to generate music,
images, and written content, empowering entrepreneurs to express their brand
and ideas more effectively.
On the operational side, tools like Pomelli AI
help streamline back-end processes, optimizing workflows so mompreneurs can
reclaim valuable time for both business and family.
As these technologies become more accessible,
AI is no longer reserved for large corporations. It is empowering everyday
entrepreneurs to work smarter, move faster, and grow with intention.
