I love brands who not only just sell their products and make profits, but also help our kababayans make a living by helping them thru livelihood program. And that's why I love Rags2Riches! 

Rags2Riches is a for-profit social enterprise based in Manila, Philippines, creating eco-ethical fashion and home accessories out of up cycled scrap cloth, organic materials and indigenous fabrics by working with artisans (mostly women) living in less privileged communities across the country.

 A week ago, Rags2Riches launched their Fall/Holiday 2013 Collection at Ayala Museum. The collection, dubbed as ARTEsenal Luxe, also fuses timeless silhouettes with a selection of traditional and contemporary techniques.

Each piece in this collection, from the minaudières, clutches, mini bags to the hobo bags, illustrates the tactile richness of different handmade textures, as well as the artful interpretations of the lives and values of the artisans, producing eco – ethical fashion and home accessories out of recycled scrap cloth, organic materials and indigenous fabrics as they strive to weave better futures for the families and communities where these skilled individuals hail from.

Inspired by one of the Philippines’ most influential fashion icons and this season’s Rags2Riches Style Advocate, Liz Uy for Rags2Riches ARTEsenal Luxe makes a bold statement that glamour can be good for the world, and that style can have soul and substance. 

The celebrity stylist and fashion editor-at-large truly believes that one’s personal style should always make a statement, and that one’s accessories should go way beyond being just a decorative piece, possessing a story and life of its own.

Liz Uy as the latest Style Advocate of Rags2Riches and the collection’s stories coming from different artisans around the country creates a social statement in itself, fusing style and substance together.
