Healthway Medical signs contract with I-Remit

Healthway Medical, the country’s most-preferred and trusted mall-based clinic expands its reach by catering to global markets through its partnership with I-Remit, the largest Filipino-owned non-bank remittance service provider.

The venture allows Healthway Medical to offer its premium healthcare services to more than 2.2 million Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other Filipinos abroad through I-Remit’s iShop. Considered a “One-Stop Shop Delivery Service”, iShop accepts orders and coordinates the delivery of Pinoy gifts and pasalubong from Filipinos abroad to their respective beneficiaries and loved ones back home.

“By making our healthcare services available online, OFWs and foreigners can take care of themselves and their families without having to worry about being far away from home,” says Carmie de Leon, Healthway Medical Vice President for Sales and Marketing.

Healthway Medical will now be offering Health Screening services as well as its premium executive checkup package, HealthCheQ International, to over 1,400 remittance outlets located in 26 countries and territories covered by I-Remit.

“I-Remit’s presence in twenty-six countries across the world allows us to reward clients with value added service, and that’s where Healthway Medical fits into the picture,” says I-Remit Vice President for Global Sales and Marketing Alejandro Pepino.  “I think one of the main concerns of an OFW is when they send money to the Philippines, they want to have a sense of security that is actually addressing the needs of the family. Our multiple remittance channels let OFWs make purchases in advance for their loved ones in the Philippines, and Healthway Medical is there to provide much-needed preventive care for their families.”

Healthway Medical’s Health Screenings provide diagnostic procedures that help determine diseases even before the onset of observable symptoms. This enables Healthway Medical’s healthcare professionals to apply preventive health procedures and easily treat conditions before they get worse. Among the health care packages offered are basic medical exams for male and female, diabetes screening, and dental services such as teeth whitening.

HealthCheQ International, on the other hand, offers a more comprehensive medical package that includes laboratory, diagnostic services, imaging studies, and special examinations. Available in transferrable coupons, HealthCheQ International is designed to provide medical and dental services for the entire family. The package also allows patients to choose among tests and procedures that best suit their needs, including cosmetic services such as warts removal and other facial-care procedures.

On top of premium healthcare, Healthway Medical extends its exclusive service with a complete wellness experience by offering an overnight stay at any of Healthway Medical’s partner hotels or resorts for a relaxing getaway.

Healthway Medical, PMAP celebrate National Wellness Day

Healthway Medical, the country’s trusted and most preferred network of mall-based clinics, celebrated National Wellness Day on June 20, 2014, together with the People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP).
Healthway Medical joined PMAP in the movement to create a fit and healthy working environment for employees through a day that walked and talked everything about wellness. With a program that consisted of a learning session on work-life balance, followed by a workout Zumba session, Healthway stressed the importance of holistic wellness.

“Healthway Medical has always been an advocate of wellness,” says Carmie de Leon, Healthway Medical vice president for Sales and Marketing. “Today’s exercises will help our employees stay healthy and productive in and out of the workplace.”

Healthway Medical’s National Wellness Day celebration started with a short lecture from Physical Therapy Head, April Faraon, on Workplace Ergonomics. The talk emphasized the need to be healthy and active as well as shared different exercises employees can do even in the workplace.
The session also included a demonstration of PMAP’s 7-minute Wellness Moment, which involves stretching or self-massage, followed by prayer or meditation, dancing, jogging, or jumping in place, and clapping, laughing, and sharing handshakes with colleagues. PMAP encouraged both member and nonmember companies to create a video of their employees doing the exercise simultaneously on June 21 at exactly 3 p.m.to create a worldwide wellness movement.

After the learning session, the participants joined in on a thrilling Zumba dance class, which Healthway Medical employees have been doing three times a week to show their consistent efforts in promoting health and wellness.

For the past 10 years, Healthway Medical has been working with PMAP to actively improve workplace wellness through career development forums and training programs. “Healthway Medical has always been in the frontier of promoting health and wellness in the workplace,” says Mitch Guce, PMAP’s trustee for Fellowship and Wellness. “They have always been an avid supporter of the health and wellness programs of PMAP.”

This partnership between Healthway Medical and PMAP aims to encourage more individuals to not only celebrate National Wellness Day every third Friday of June but also to empower them to take health and wellness principles and apply them in their homes and workplaces.

Let's celebrate National Wellness Day on June 20

Did you know that 9 of the 10 leading causes of death in the Philippines are health related? And did you also know that just by eating better, making small lifestyle changes and doing moderate activity on most days of the week, we can reduce the risk of many diseases and increase our quality of life?

The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) is advocating health and wellness in the workplace as one of the most important issues that companies need to address today. With this, PMAP will hold a nationwide event called National Wellness Day that  is envisioned to be participated by various companies in the country, both PMAP and non-PMAP members, on June 20, 2014.

PMAP Trustee for Fellowship and Wellness Mitch G. Guce said that through the years, the organization have organized employee activities like sports fests, family day events and the likes for its member companies. “This time, we want to come up with an activity that will help promote awareness among employers and employees about the importance of being physically, emotionally and spiritually healthy.“

PMAP also presented a suggested program format that companies can use as a guide for a half-day event that they can organize in their respective workplaces. It includes company-sponsored healthy lunch and snack; learning sessions on work-life balance, holistic and spirituality; and the 7-Minute PMAP Wellness Moment, a quick wellness activity that involves stretching and meditation to be done simultaneously across the nation by employees at exactly 3:00 pm on June 20.

The People Management Association of the Philippine (PMAP) recently promoted over cable TV channel GNN the nationwide event called National Wellness Day to be participated by various companies in the country happening on June 20, 2014. During the recent episode of The Workplace with Marybeth Nave (3rd from right), the group presented a 7-Minute PMAP Wellness Moment, a quick wellness activity that involves stretching and meditation to be done simultaneously across the nation by employees at exactly 3:00 pm on June 20.

The wellness moment involves the following activities: (a) 2-minute stretching/ self-massage, (b) 2-minute of silence (to pray or meditate), (c) minute dance/ jog in place/ jump or hop and (d) 1-minute clapping/ laughing or handshakes with colleagues.

Companies who will join in the event are encouraged to document their participation through videos and/ or photos and send a copy to the PMAP Secretariat to be included in the list of companies who will be recognized with a workplace wellness certificate during a PMAP event.

“We encourage all our members to participate in this worthy activity likewise to discuss to your employees our advocacy on how to stay fit and become more productive members of our society,” Guce added.

Aside for this initiative, PMAP is also organizing the National Wellness Summit happening at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on August 28, 2014 which will showcase the best corporate best practices on wellness in the workplace, health and fitness activities, company booths and others exciting surprises.
